Re: ERA 5 download script UEMS - ds633.0

Hello Camilo, I haven't tested this out yet myself, but I think you can make a change in the {your_directory}/uems/util/extras/era5/download_rda_ds630.0_era5.pl file. Near the bottom of the script, there is a line for the site, starting with 'http'. Change the line from 'ds630.0' to 'ds633.0'. As I ...

Re: Sea surface Temperature / SST for WRF

Hi Katherine,

The RTG_SST files you're looking for can be found here: ftp://ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/gfs/prod/ .

The discontinued SST files from the ftp site you mentioned were in grib1 format, hence the reason for their discontinuation.

Cheers!

Brian

Re: NARR Data post Oct 2014

The NARR grib data from 2014 onward seems to have either been removed or it was discontinued. The files need to be in grib2 format and not netcdf.

Have you though of using the CFSR?

Re: land use data

Here is a technical paper on the Green Vegetation Fraction product - https://nwas.org/meetings/nwas16/extended-abstracts/2716.pdf. Please be aware that it covers the United States and Southern Canada as far as 50 deg. North. The person you want to contact is Jonathan Case and his email can be found ...

Re: land use data

For your area, you'll want to use the Green Vegetation Fraction (GVF) from NASA SPoRT. The vegetation fraction data is based on daily VIIRS satellite data and is the only way to get the most recent changes in land use, and changes in vegetation, either due to drought or moisture. Jonathan Case, a sc...

Re: AFWA Diagnostics

Just to add what I wrote earlier. If you go to your $UEMS/strc/Urun/ARW directory, there is a file named ARWafwa.pm where amongst the code is the notation, "These options (AFWA) cannot be used with OpenMP." And further, "the routines in WRF module_diag_afwa.F and module_diag_afwa_hail.F are not prop...

Re: AFWA Diagnostics

It has never worked in previous releases. I wish it would, as it would be handy for the lake breeze convergence we get in the warm-season around the Great Lakes.

Re: Failed System Signal Code SN 127 Command or File Not Found

This won't work because Sportlis is a land surface model and can't be used for initial or boundary conditions. You need to run with the other data sets, such as NAM, GFS, etc. The sportlis only works when you pass the command switch --lsm sportlis. So, your command should be "ems_prep --dset nam (as...

Re: ems_post grads ok?

Right, I had forgotten that Robert completely removed support for Leins in version 18 of the UEMS. I copied the version of Leins from my current version 15 of UEMS, to the version 18 utils directory.

In the post_uems.conf file for your domain, do you have both Grads and Grib set to Yes?
