Re: HPC requirements

Hello First of all you can not do such nesting ratio if you will use normal (synchroneous) nesting type. In such case, ratio must be odd number. 0.5km grid 300x150 km has 1800.000 grid points (domain size 600x300). With this grid distance time step should be around 3 seconds. The similar runs I did ...

Re: UEMS Postprocessing and displaying results

Hello This is actually most tedious part because there is basically no-existent any automation for final products. You need to do it on your own. My recommendation: 1) Go into config of your domain and in post_uems.conf turn on GrADS: GRADS = No (change to YES) Postprocess your run again. Then fire ...

Hi,

I updated links. But as this is community forum, not owned by anyone in particular, all of you are free to add new stuff if you find something outdated.

Re: --analysis : what is the real effect of that option ?

Dear all, As every year or so, I'm getting back to UEMS to try to decipher the secrets of NWP. This time I'm pretty confident I will understand something as I have a robust setup based on a working GCP virtual machine. I've tried to run a 15 days long downscaling test based on the cfsrv2 dateset. I...

Re: About FV3 data

As far as I can tell from url in config files it seems so. But if you're very concerned, you can check it out easy. Just use GrADS to plot downloaded files and check result agains whatever you download yourself from fv3 and/or legacy gfs. Whichever of those two matches, it is the answer. It is easy ...

Re: GLIBC_2.14 for NCVIEW

I think you will have problems with that if statically compiled binary requires higher glibc than your operating system has. No way to upgrade to RHEL or Centos 7?

Re: Computer power required for 150x150km domain

It depends in which time you want it to finish. If you allow several hours for running time, I guess regular desktop cpu of newer generation (4 or 6 cores I7) can do that. You will probably need one or two levels of nesting to reach that resolution without troubles depending on input data... It also...

Re: Google Cloud Platform and Hyperthreading

A quick note. The best way to chose if HT would be beneficial or detrimental is to test out with/without running your operational domain and see which setup is faster. But generally, there are some guidelines that are not mentioned in UEMS as far as I know. There is a range of optimal number of thre...
